The work with Giles Deacon has revealed a collection that delights in our floral heritage, with a nod to utilitarianism and history that Giles explores in his work.
Giles's love for subverting design clichés led him to explore new iterations of the Sanderson archive. The archive itself houses a beautiful collection of mid-to-late 19th-century trompe-l'oeil wallpaper patterns depicting curtains, bows, ribbons, and tassels, and here Wilsford is cloaked in illusion. With clever use of refined screens, from a distance Wilsford looks like a wonderfully draped fabric. Created using stylized flat colors, Wilsford suits rotary printing technique and mimics the original document with stunning effects. Like an aged and blurred memory of a past era, perfectly preserved and dramatically beautiful.
