Printing the original design took several days, using hand-carved wooden blocks to build the different colors, and “Strawberry Thief” was consequently one of the most expensive cottons of Morris's company. While waiting to see the first piece printed, Morris spent sleepless nights in his lodging at Merton Abbey. Designed in 1883, Strawberry Thief remains one of William Morris's most popular and iconic designs. Strawberry Thief Charcoal features delicate pastel shades of pink, gray, and white, contrasted by a deep charcoal background, offering an intriguing and inviting contrast.
