Inspired by an Ardmore turtle print that resembles a stylized star, the artists at Cole & Son created a burst geometric repetition.

The visual composition of Kalahari is almost like a musical score, an orderly rhythm marked by the resonant echoes of larger shapes and a cadence of smaller silhouettes.

Playing with perspective and focus, the design could represent the labyrinthine marks on a turtle’s shell or dozens of turtles gathered at the edge of a watering hole.

The engraving of the Kalahari print creates a watercolor effect, the organic shapes and line thicknesses add warmth and vitality, followed by a stencil-like outline for a contemporary freshness.
