How to achieve a distressed effect with Magic Paint?
The Shabby is a finishing technique used to achieve a weathered effect that reveals the wood or the color of the underlying paint.
To know how to achieve a shabby effect with Magic Paint, read the following instructions carefully:
The first step is to thoroughly degrease the surface you wish to paint with hot water, ammonia, and baking soda, (in one liter of water, put 3/4 tablespoons of baking soda and a capful of ammonia; if you are allergic to ammonia, just water and baking soda will suffice). These are the only products that clean the surface well without leaving traces.
Once dried, you can proceed with painting.Open the jar, mix well and proceed with the first coat very thinly, (avoid leaving drips at the edges because they would not look aesthetically pleasing at the end of the work). Let the surface dry well before proceeding to the third step (it is considered dry when placing your hand on the surface feels warm. Drying times depend on the environment you are in and the season)
The second coat should completely cover the surface, so the color underneath will no longer be visible. If the first coat has already been very opaque, the second coat can be diluted with 10/15% water. Let it dry well.
Sand with sandpaper or a fine/medium grit sponge where you want to expose the wood. For a good result, corners, reliefs, or inlays of the furniture are recommended.
Finally, depending on the furniture, it is recommended to protect with wax (nightstands, dressers, wardrobes, low-wear furniture) or with liquid protective (kitchens, chairs, tables, doors, high-wear furniture).
N.B.: The protective must always be diluted with about 10/15% water.
